Publish in a newspaper

John Elmer Webb, Sr., 73, of Dumfries, Virginia, passed away on August 13, 2025.

John was born on August 21, 1951, in Billings, Montana, to Boyd Elmer Webb and

Marian Boyd Webb (née Jones). He graduated from Belfry School in Belfry, Montana,

and then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. While stationed at Quantico

Marine Base, he met the love of his life, Rose Marie Schlegel. They married on

September 23, 1973, and became permanent residents of Dumfries, Virginia, where they

raised their two sons, William B. Webb (Billy) and John Elmer Webb, Jr. (Jay).

John retired after more than 30 years of service with the federal government. During his

residency in the Town of Dumfries, he served for many years on the town planning

commission.

He was a devoted family man who could always be found spending time with his loved

ones. He enjoyed woodworking, working on projects around the house, helping his wife

in the garden, and researching genealogy. He was especially proud of supporting his

four grandchildren in their many school and community activities. John also cherished

spending time with his extended family, the Schlegels, during holidays and annual

events like making apple butter and cookies.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Boyd Elmer and Marian Boyd; his brother

Dale Webb; sister Sharon Webb; his father- and mother-in-law, George and Gladys

Schlegel; brothers-in-law, William (Billy) Schlegel, George (Buck) Schlegel, and Harry

Schlegel; and sister-in-law, JoAnne Ramage.

John is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Webb of Dumfries, Virginia; his eldest son,

William, and wife Rui, and their grandson Liam of Houston, Pennsylvania; his youngest

son, John, Jr., and wife Angelina, and their children, grandson Casey and

granddaughters Layla and Zoey of Wappingers Falls, New York; his brothers, Steven B.

and Edward Jay Webb of Montana; and his in-laws, Stanley Schlegel, Sr. of Tennessee,

Bruce and Robert Schlegel, Barbara Ruth, and Claralynn Weisbrod of Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

A visitation will be held on August 21st from 6 pm to 8 pm at Mountcastle Turch Funeral home. The service will be held on August 22nd from 10 am to 11 am at Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home, followed by a burial at 11:30 am at Quantico National Cemetery.
