John White Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cavanagh Family Funeral Homes, Inc. & Private Crematory - Norwood on Apr. 3, 2025.
John (Jake) J. White III, 67, passed away the morning of March 31,2025, peacefully at his home in Norwood after a treacherous battle of lung cancer and heart disease. He was born March 11, 1958 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Barbara A. Macfeat and the late John J. White Jr.. He had a tremendous amount of love for his Mother, who describes him as her wonderful son. He is also preceded in death by Barbara's late husband, Walter Macfeat who played a significant role in Jake's life.
In addition to his mother, Jake is survived by his loving, beautiful, supportive best friend and wife of 41 years, Dolores White (McCann). He and Dolores shared an indescribable relationship filled with unconditional love and support.
Jake was a long-time welder at the Navy Yard and ended his career working at The Home Depot and Acme Market in Glenolden where he was valued by all. He was an avid sports lover and showed his passion for the Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia Phillies, and Villanova Basketball daily. He was often found dressed head to toe in his gear to support whatever team was playing that day. Jake played the Pennsylvania lottery regularly and enjoyed his "scratchies". Jake loved to spend his summers at Driftwood Too Campground with his family where they spent long days at Avalon Beach. In his free time, Jake loved to read his books, specifically Harlan Coben, Declan James, and Peter O'Mahoney amongst many others. Jake loved to spend time with his family. Most of all, his youngest grandson, Carter, who came at the perfect time to keep that big infectious smile on his face, which he was famously known for.
Jake is also survived by his children Kristi White, John IV White (Julie), and Tim White (Justine); his grandchildren Becca, Veronica, Christian, and Carter; brother Tom White (Maryanne) and his many nieces and nephews.
Jake was also preceded in death by his brother, Stephen F. White.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Monday, April 7 2025 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Cavanagh Family Funeral Home, 301 Chester Pike, Norwood. The burial will be held privately at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the American Cancer Society in his name can be made at the link below.
His family encourages all to come wearing their best Eagles, Phillies, or Villanova gear to celebrate Jake's love for his favorite sports teams.
