John M. Wilber, age 93, of
Rock Creek, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on December 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 2, 1932, in Trumbull Township, Ohio, he was one of twelve children in a family that deeply valued love, faith, and togetherness. John married the love of his life, Ann Rose Kovacic, on February 11, 1956, and together they raised six children: Sharon (Ted) Miller of Rock Creek, Kim (the late Steve) Dragon of Geneva, Ohio, Susan (Bruce) Allen of Jefferson, John (Brenda) Wilber of Rock Creek, Danny (Chauntel) Wilber of Rock Creek, and Donny (Sherry) Wilber of Rock Creek. He was also a proud grandfather to 42 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom cherished his guidance, humor, and wisdom. A skilled union carpenter and master of finished carpentry, John's hands crafted not only beautiful woodwork but also a legacy of love and care. He had a special passion for making small wooden toys and creating his own musical instruments, showcasing his creativity and craftsmanship. John had a deep love for sports, particularly baseball and softball, but it was coaching the next generation that brought him the most joy. He coached countless boys and girls throughout the years, instilling in them a passion for the game, teamwork, and perseverance. His love for music was equally vast, and he was a talented musician who played by ear, never needing notes or chords to create beautiful melodies. Whether it was a guitar, dobro, harmonica or any other instrument, John could pick it up and fill the room with music. He was known for his weekly jam sessions with friends at local establishments, where bluegrass music and good company were always in abundance. To his family, John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He had a profound love for his family and cherished every opportunity to be together. Every Christmas Eve, the family would gather around to hear Grandpa Wilber play "The Shepherd Song" and "Marvelous Toy." The joy in his eyes as they begged him to play was a reflection of his love for them, and his music will echo in their hearts forever. A man of unwavering faith, John gave his life to Jesus Christ as a young man and believed wholeheartedly that families that pray together, stay together. He and Ann were devoted members of New Lyme Baptist Church for much of their lives and later was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in their later years. John's faith moved mountains, and he shared it generously with all who knew him. On Christmas Day, as the world celebrated the birth of Christ, John entered into the presence of the Savior he so faithfully served. We take comfort in knowing that, at the moment of his passing, he was embraced by Jesus and welcomed into Heaven. Well done, my good and faithful servant. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who have been part of John's life, and for the love and support shown during his final days.
The family will have a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you sponsor a child to play baseball or softball. Donations may be made to Lighthouse Baptist Church or Hospice of the Western Reserve. Services entrusted to Paine Funeral Home, Inc.,
