John Arthur Bernard Williams (AKA Tubby, AKA Jabo, AKA Black), 72, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. Tubby was born in Wheeling WV, on July 11, 1952 to the late Joseph Edward Ladson and Ida Bell Dubois Williams.
Tubby was one of a kind and lived his life his way with no regrets. Tubby was a graduate of Wheeling High School Class of 1970. Notably, he was named Mr. Football while attending Wheeling High School. Tubby was a construction worker and foreman by trade. He worked in the construction field for over 40 plus years in both Wheeling WV and Washington DC. Tubby grew up and lived in Wheeling WV until he moved to Washington DC in 1981. Though Tubby moved to DC, he never forgot his hometown and returned home almost every 4th of July to celebrate with friends and family. Tubby was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steeler fan who also happened to like the Washington Commanders. Tubby enjoyed watching sports and old western movies.
In addition to his parents, Tubby is preceded in death by his beloved aunt- Lillian Mae Chapman, his brother Joseph Gregory Ladson, his sister Carolyn Ladson Jones and numerous aunts and uncles.
Tubby is survived by his daughters: Domica (Rahsaan) Vanterpool, Lareca Harrison, and Tamela Williams; his grandchildren Briana Wright, Tia Vanterpool, and Bryson Williams; his brother John Edward Ladson; and his sister Connie Elizabeth Ladson. Tubby also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, adopted family members, and special friends.
Tubby was loved by many and will be sincerely missed.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at Kepner Funeral Home located at 900 National Road, Wheeling WV 26003. The home going services will be begin at 1:00PM.
