John Wood Obituary
He was born Feb. 25, 1927 in Roanoke, Texas to John Lavell Wood and Hazel Arnold Wood. He served in the US Army in 1945-46 as an Aircraft Operations Specialist and later became a commercial airline pilot. He loved to fly, play golf and read. He was a member of the Salem-Crestview United Methodist Church in Graham.
He married Tommie Jewell Standifer in January 1953 and she preceded him in death in March 2011.
He was preceded in death by his wife Tommie; son Stephen Jay Wood in 1990; brother Dalton Wood.
Survivors include a daughter, Angela Jean Perkins; a granddaughter, Jennifer Franzen; and several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law Lenda Wood of Tahoka, as well as longtime friends/recent caregivers Kay and Coy Willis of Graham.
Thanks is given to all those who looked in on John in the past year, including the caring nurses and aides with Beyond Faith Hospice and the caring staff of Elmcroft Assisted Living Center.
