Johnetta K. Schoonover, 89 of New Windsor, died peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family at her daughter’s home. Private family services will be held with burial in Hopewell Cemetery, New Windsor, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the family. Speer Funeral Home, Aledo is assisting the family.
Johnetta Kathryn Tittle was born on August 24, 1935, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois to John D. & Mabel (Anderson) Tittle. She married Carlos Lee Schoonover on May 28, 1955, at the Watertown Baptist Church in East Moline. He preceded her in death in on June 2, 2008.
Johnetta worked for the Illinois prison system for many years, but her heart was caring for and spending time with her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She also shared her talents in Art, having graduated from Blackhawk College with an Art degree. Johnetta was proficient in many mediums including watercolor, oils and clay. She loved to do portraits of her family. In her spare time, she volunteered with the American Red Cross and liked to play pickleball.
Those left to cherish Johnetta’s memory include her children: Jamie Boore of New Windsor; Alan Lee (Allison McMillan) Schoonover of Tennessee; grandchildren: Johnna (Frederick) Cato; Benjamin (Leah) Boore; Russell (Kelsea) Boore, II; Isaac Boore, Adeline Boore and Jeffrey (Melissa) Schoonover; great-grandchildren: Devynn, Caleah, Beckham, Barrett, Henry, Ellie, Rusty, Riley, Landon, Chloe, Maci, Paige, and Brantley and a great-great-grandchild: Damien. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant twin daughters; and siblings, Leota D. Heathman and Richard D. Tittle and son-in-law, Russell Boore.
