Johnine T. Cummings, LCSW of New York City died Tuesday at Marywood Heights surrounded by her family. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Jane Breslin Cummings. She was a graduate of Marywood Seminary, Salve Regina University, R.I., and Hunter College Silberman Graduate School of Social Work, NYC.

Prior to retirement she was the Executive Director of University Behavioral Associates, Montefiore Hospital Systems and Adjunct Professor at the Einstein School of Medicine, Bronx, NY. In addition, Johnine had a private psychotherapy practice in New York City.

Surviving are her sister Alicia J. Dougherty of Dunmore, brother Cyril (Heidi) Cummings, Cape May, NJ, Ian McAndrew (Sarah Berman), Lancaster, PA, Jane McAndrew (Elizabeth Norman), Brooklyn, NY, Martha McAndrew, St Petersburg Fl, nieces Liza (Joseph) Williams, Mary (Ken) Renard of Scranton, Clare Dougherty, Dickson City, Kate (Michael) Lippmann, Arlington VA, great-nieces, Jennifer Golden, Scranton, Emma and Juliet Renard, Scranton, Isabel and Sophia Lippmann, Arlington VA, and nephew Charles Cummings, Cape May, NJ.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday June 7, 2022, at Saint Paul's Church, 1510 Penn Avenue Scranton, PA. Interment at Cathedral Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart and Marywood Heights for the kind and compassionate care given to Johnine.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, Lilburn, GA, American Brain Foundation, Minneapolis MN, or The Michael J. Fox Foundation, NYC.
