Johnnie Gorum Obituary
Ms. Gorum, 83, of Elmer, entered eternal rest on Thursday, March 27, 2025, in her residence with her loving family by her side.
Johnnie Marie, known to some as Ms. Johnnie, Johnnie Ree, and as a child to her dad as "John Butt" cherished her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and sister. She loved nothing more than spending time with them, her other family members, extended family, and friends.
In her younger years, she worked for Holsum Bakery, and before retiring, she worked for Loewer Power Sports, making many laugh when she would get under her desk singing "Happy Birthday" over the intercom. There was never a dull moment with Johnnie.
She was a graduate of Tioga High School and each year looked forward to catching up with her fellow classmates at school reunions.
Johnnie loved spending hours on the edge of a river or pond fishing with her son. Her story was she always caught the biggest one.
One of her happiest moments was rededicating her life and being baptized at Heart of Worship. We know she is fishing on Heaven's River Banks, but not a day will go by that she will not be missed here.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Beverly Adams.
Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include one son, Charles "Bubba" Gorum (Angela) of Elmer; one daughter, Kelly Coutee of Loveland, Colorado; one sister, Jimmie Nell Lewis of Prospect; four grandsons, Norman Coutee, Kyle Coutee, Casey Coutee, and Kendal Gorum; one granddaughter, Kelsie Gorum; five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation will be held in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
Pallbearers honored to serve are: Dalton Leavines, Kendal Gorum, Adam Rabalais, Jim Rabalais, Chance Rabalais, and Donnie Littleton.
