Johnny Darrell Johnson

Johnny Darrell Johnson, 58, of Buckhorn, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at his residence. Born on December 29, 1967 in Campbell County, Kentucky, Johnny spent his life rooted in the hills of Eastern Kentucky where he built a legacy of hard work and deep devotion to family.

A graduate of Breathitt High School with some college education, Johnny applied his skills and dedication throughout his career at AAA Mining Service. There, he worked as a fabricator and parts supplier-roles that reflected both his technical ability and his commitment to supporting those around him.

Johnny was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He especially cherished time spent with his family and held a special bond with his grandson, Ezra Johnson. Whether riding his side-by-side through the countryside or cheering on Kentucky basketball, Johnny embraced every moment with enthusiasm and heart.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Penny Hensley Johnson; his son, Dustin Johnson (Sydney); and his beloved grandson, Ezra Johnson. He also leaves behind his mother, Edith Johnson; brothers, James David Gilbert (Liz) and Leroy Johnson (Joyce); and sisters, Lavonda Gail "Tootsie" Johnson (Randy) and Connie Sue McIntosh (Michael).

Johnny was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Johnson.

Visitation for Johnny will be held Saturday, February 14, 2026 from 5:00PM to 9:00 PM at the Breathitt Funeral Home with his funeral service scheduled for Sunday, February 15, 2026 at 1:00 PM with Chris Turner officiating.

Burial will follow in the Johnson Family Cemetery at Altro with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Johnny's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May it bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
