Johnny Allen Rogers, aka "Bubba" or JAR
February 15, 1956 – January 24, 2025
Jasper, Tennessee
Johnny Allen Rogers, affectionately known as "Bubba," left this world too soon but left a lifetime of love, laughter, and memories in his wake. He is survived by his pride and joy of 44 years wife, Angie Elliott Rogers; his two precious daughters, Lyndi Rogers Silver (Jarred) and Johna Johnson (Andy); his loyal dog, Ireland; and his beloved grandchildren-Braelyn, Kailyn, and Noah-who were the light of his life.
Johnny is also survived by his devoted mother, Dot Rogers; his brother, Skip (Donna) Rogers; and his closest nephews Scott, Chris, Heath, and Dakota, along with their families, all of whom brought him great joy.
He is preceded in death by his best friend and father, Robert Rogers.
Johnny graduated from Whitwell High School in 1974 where he was Quarterback of the football team, a true highlight of his life. He went on to play football and graduated from Austin Peay University in 1980. He loved his softball years after college and talked about it often.
Johnny spent over 40 years serving Marion County in banking, a career that showcased his care for his community and dedication to helping others. Yet, his true passion was in building homes, a craft he cherished most when working alongside his wife and daughters and their husbands. His handiwork wasn't just in homes and designs, it was in the strong foundations of the relationships he built every step of the way.
In August of 2022, Johnny experienced the greatest transformation of his life when he found a newfound love for Jesus, who saved him and changed his path forever. In the 888 days that followed, every moment of his life was divinely orchestrated by the Lord, and Johnny lived with a deep gratitude for the redemption he experienced. His faith became his anchor, his testimony provides hope to inspire others to find the same love and joy he did in Jesus, no matter your age or situation. For this, we rejoice, knowing Johnny is now in the arms of his Savior, and we pray his story inspires others to seek the same saving grace.
Known for his soft, teddy bear-like demeanor, Johnny was a man who could make anyone feel welcome. Whether he was catching up with his buddies at Lowe's, sharing a laugh with the crew at Collins, or "running the roads" at his signature speed of 90 miles an hour, he made every interaction memorable. If you ever asked how he was doing, his answer was always the same: "Living the dream, baby." And live it, he did.
Some of Johnny's favorite memories were made traveling the world with his wife and kids through the years. His favorite spots were found in Vegas playing Texas hold em with his friends, beach and Biloxi weekend trips with all his kids (you know who you are friends), and across Europe with Angie.
Johnny's warmth, humor, steadfast love, and unwavering faith will be deeply missed, but his spirit will remain in every home he built, every laugh he shared, and every heart he touched.
