Jon Danz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tom M. Wages Funeral Service - Snellville on Dec. 30, 2025.
Jon Von Danz, age 56, of Lilburn, Georgia, passed away on December 26, 2025. Born on June 24, 1969, in Dixon, California, Jon lived a life defined by service, humor, resilience, and a deep devotion to those he loved.
Jon proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Combat Engineer, holding the rank of Specialist, during the First Gulf War. On February 25, 1991, Jon was severely wounded when he stepped on a land mine in Kuwait. For his sacrifice, he was awarded the Purple Heart. The explosion stopped the wristwatch he was wearing, a watch he chose to wear each year on the anniversary of that day. Jon captured the meaning of that moment in his poem, Five Minutes To Noon, a reflection of both the cost of war and the gift of survival.
Following his military service, Jon built a varied and interesting career, holding many titles over the years, including private detective, bail bondsman, TAC officer, and gunsmith. No matter the role, his sharp mind, attention to detail, and sense of duty were always evident.
Above all else, Jon was a family man. Never shying away from showing affection, he found his greatest joy in being a husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Pam; the mother of his children, Karen; his children, Daniel (Olivia), Kevin (Tanner), and Christina (Harrison). Jon was also a proud grandfather to Amelia, Giovanni, Gianna, and Florence, who knew him lovingly as "Opa," a title he cherished more than any other.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Jon's life will be held at 10:00am on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Tom M. Wages Funeral Service, 3705 Highway 78 West, Snellville, Georgia 30039. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, Jon's family asks that you consider honoring his memory by contributing to the college funds established for his four grandchildren. While Opa may not be present to watch them grow, his love and spirit will always be part of their lives. Contributions will be shared equally, and each grandchild will receive a letter of love and support from their Opa and those who loved him when they turn 18. You may click on the link below.
