Jon V Eyerly, 82, of Salem, OR, passed away peacefully on November 6 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease and related complications.

Jon was born in Salem, OR on March 17, 1941 to Jack V and June Eyerly. He spent his early years in Salem, attending both Cascade and South Salem High Schools.

After high school, he joined the family business that would become his lifelong career and passion. The Eyerly family started in aviation, developing flight simulators for training that developed into amusement rides. Eyerly Aircraft created and patented rides like Rock-o-Plane, Monster, Octopus, Spider, Loop-o-Plane and Roll-o-Plane that we all may know. Jon carried on the legacy of Eyerly Aircraft with JVI through which Jon still holds several patents, most notably the Krazy Kars. He finished his long and distinguished career at Funtastic Rides and was always known as a pioneer and a well-respected industry leader.

Jon is survived by his wife of 35 years, Susan Eyerly, his 2 daughters Tara Isaac and Mandy Harrell (both of Salem, OR), his stepchildren Adam Albrich (Annandale, VA) and Amy Albrich (Salem, OR). He has 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren with two more on the way. Jon was a dedicated husband and father, always quietly taking care of the family and his home.

There will be a memorial service on November 17, 2:00 pm at

Salem Evangelical Church
455 Locust St. NE
Salem, OR 97301

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Jon's name to Serenity Hospice of Salem OR.
