In Loving Memory of Jon P. Girard

Jon P. Girard, 62, from Bristol, CT., passed away peacefully on August 15th, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of music, friendships, and devotion to those he loved. Jon Graduated from New Britain Goodwin Technical High School in New Britain, CT. He is survived by his beloved wife, Paula Stone; his mother, Bettie MacIntyre-Paul; and his second dad, Arthur F. Paul, of whom they shared a close relationship. Also, his parents-in-law, Jack and Antonette Stone.

Jon was predeceased by his father, David R. Girard Sr. Jon was a cherished father to Jon Patrick Girard of Burlington, Vt., and stepfather to Jeffery Stone and wife, Jessica, Mary Pelletier, and Toni Ann Rainon of Wolcott, Ct. A devoted brother to David R. Girard (Jody) of Bridport, VT. He leaves a sister, Mary Beth Girard, of Bristol, CT., and stepbrothers, Buddy and Jay, of Woodford, Ga. He was the proud uncle to Joshua Girard (Dani), Adin Girard, Bruce Guillmette, and Elizabeth Zurell. He loved his grandson, Philip Rainone. Jon had a special place in his heart for his granddaughters, Tatianna and Brianna Pelletier, and Riley Stone, who have been an essential part of reciprocal love.

Jon's life was enriched by the enduring friendships he shared with his bandmates David Mele and Roger Tombari. Together, they created music and memories, performing in local clubs and jamming in Jon's treasured music room. Paula, Jon's greatest fan, welcomed all who came to listen and celebrate the joy of music.

A gifted musician and composer, Jon began his musical journey at the age of five. He was a master of the double bass. Though he chose to finish high school rather than pursue the fast-paced music scene in California, Jon continued to build a respected career in music. He was admired for his talent and dedication.

Jon was also an enthusiastic motorcyclist, known for his impressive collection and love of the open road. He and Paula ventured throughout New England and beyond, exploring scenic routes and touring the region. Together they camped, boated, and fished. He also took great pride in restoring and driving his vintage 1966 Buick Skylark Gran Sport Convertible, a reflection of his appreciation for craftsmanship and classic style. Whereby, Jon and Paula would be off to the Litchfield Hills or wherever a winding country road led them.

Professionally, Jon worked in the industrial sector and later in the aerospace industry at Whitcraft in Farmington, Connecticut. He retired five years ago due to illness, leaving behind a career marked by skill and integrity.

Jon was also a respected son of a Veteran. He received an award for his craftsmanship in restoring the American Eagle at the Veterans Memorial Park in Forestville, CT.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, between 1 and 3 PM followed by a Celebration of Life ceremony.

Jon's spirit, smile, and music will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Rest in peace, Jon. You are deeply loved and will forever be missed. Please visit Jon's memorial web-site at www.FunkFuneralHome.com.
