Jon Adaire "Joni" Thompson

Jon Adaire "Joni" Thompson (née Peterson), age 90, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2025, in Erie, Pennsylvania. Born on April 20, 1935, Joni lived a life rooted in faith, service, and love for others. She was preceded in death by her father, Kermit Peterson and her beloved mother, Mabel, who shaped the strong values she carried throughout her life.

Joni is survived by her loving children, Lisa Frisina (Steve) and Mitch Thompson (Karen). She was a devoted grandmother to Max Frisina (Courtney), Sam Thompson, Megan Johannsen (Aubrey), and Hannah Thompson (Bae), and a loving great-grandmother to Ben Johannsen. She is also survived by her beloved siblings, Kermit "Pete" Peterson (Sally), Kenneth Peterson (Carol), Damon "Dan" Peterson (Tamara), and Kathy Schreifer (Jim); as well as many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

For many years, Joni worked at Marine Bank (now PNC Bank) in Erie, where she helped support her children during the 1970s and 1980s. Her dedication, work ethic, and the care she warmly showed for her customers reflected the compassionate service to others that defined her life.

Joni's service to others was also central to her lifelong commitment to the Order of the Eastern Star and the White Shrine of Jerusalem, which became like a second family to her. Through her devotion and leadership, she rose to become the Supreme Worthy High Priestess of the White Shrine, its nationally elected leader. In this role, she traveled throughout the country, offering service, fellowship, and faith to others.

In recent years she found great joy in her senior swimming group at the Eastside YMCA, where she shared friendship, laughter, and a love of staying active.

Above all, Joni loved her family, her friends, and all that life had to offer. Her faith guided her actions, her kindness touched many lives, and her legacy of love and service will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral & Cremation Services Harborcreek, 5151 Buffalo Rd. (at Hannon Rd.) on Sunday, January 4th from noon until the time of the service there at 2 PM.
