It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jonah Robert Habedank, who left this world on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the tender age of 18. Born on October 21, 2006, in Cincinnati, OH, Jonah was a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend whose light has touched the lives of many. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and a wide circle of relatives and friends who profoundly valued his presence in their lives.
Jonah, the cherished son of Matt and Kathleen Habedank, was a beacon of kindness and warmth. He was adored as a dear brother to Charlie Habedank and lovingly regarded by his grandparents, Doris and the late Charles "Chuck" Habedank, and Ray and Charlene Schwab. He was the nephew of Mike (Janet) Habedank, Mark (Brenda) Habedank, Michelle (Tim) Buelterman, Kevin Schwab, Eileen (Mike) Baker and Christine (Eric) Barrow. He was a dear cousin of Sara (JD) Hafron, Sami (Joey) Lang, Andy Buelterman, Alex Buelterman, Emma Buelterman, Regina Habedank, Ruby Barrow, Andrew Barrow and Liz Schwab. Jonah will forever hold a special place in the hearts of his family, and his memory will live on through stories filled with love and laughter.
Jonah's journey began at St. Dominic Elementary School, where he nurtured his love for learning and formed lasting friendships. He continued his education at St. James before proudly attending LaSalle High School, where he was set to graduate this year. At LaSalle, Jonah was not only a dedicated student but also a vibrant member of the community, actively participating in extracurricular activities such as the volleyball team and campus ministry. His enthusiasm, empathy, and ability to uplift those around him made a lasting impact on his teachers and peers alike.
Outside of his academic and extracurricular engagements, Jonah had a passion for golf, a love for the great outdoors, and a deep appreciation for music. His infectious smile and positive attitude left an indelible mark on all who encountered him. Jonah had a unique gift for making others feel special and valued, and those precious memories will forever warm the hearts of those left behind.
In honoring Jonah's life, a visitation will be held at LaSalle High School Chapel, located at 3091 N Bend Rd, on Thursday, December 19 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. James Church - White Oak, 3565 Hubble Road, on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lasallian Youth Service Immersion Trips (LYSIT) at 3091 North Bend Road, Cincinnati, OH 45239, an organization that reflects Jonah's spirit of service to others.
Jonah's passing has created a profound absence in the hearts of all who knew him. Yet, as we grieve, we also celebrate the gift of his life and the joy he brought to us all. The flood of memories and love shared in the coming days will surely echo his spirit, reminding us that while he may no longer be with us physically, he will forever remain a part of our hearts.
