Jonah Simon Obituary
Our beloved Jonah Alexander Simon passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at the age of 30. Jonah was generous and kind and an excellent social worker. He was an endlessly supportive husband. He loved aviation simulators, Dungeons and Dragons, and eating strawberries out of the fridge.
His laugh made you feel warm. His presence made you feel calm.
He loved movies, and could tell you the director of any film, even if he hadn’t seen it, and he had an encyclopedic knowledge of trivia.
He was an artist.
He would go to the movie theater just to get popcorn, his favorite snack.
He loved drinking a White Russian, even though he was lactose intolerant.
He always left cabinet doors open and cups of water all over the place, like an M. Night Shyamalan movie (who was far from his favorite director, with peace and love to Mr. Shyamalan).
He would do anything for anyone, as long as it wasn’t after 8pm.
He was the perfect big brother, except for that one time he called Ella “Sideshow Bob” because her hair was crazy.
He preferred to go to no more than two (2) Mardi Gras parades per year.
He would think deeply, often while pacing or wandering away from the group.
He loved his dogs, Percy and Ox, and was always creating a weird new nickname or song for them.
He was a role model to his cousins, in life and in Fortnite. He would lead them to victory.
He could talk to anyone about anything, no matter how off-beat or obtuse.
He made his mom and dad proud.
Jonah will be missed by everyone he ever met, especially his wife, Emma (Crady) Simon, his mother, Kendra (Haworth) Simon, his father, James Simon; his sister, Ella Simon; his cousins, Kyle, Kayla, Kevin, and Konnar; his maternal grandparents, Larry & Amy Haworth and Kathy Haworth; his paternal grandparents, Diana & Carl Mimms; his aunt and uncle, Tracey (Haworth) Reynolds and Jean-Claude Campbell; his groomsmen, Sedrick Scott and Kyle Newhard; and his dear friends, Jordan Coughlin, Paige Coughlin, Kyle Gross, Morgan Jones, Kwamé Juakali, and Laura Johnson.
A Gathering of Remembrance will be held at the Tree of Life located in Audubon Park, New Orleans, Louisiana on Friday, October 17 at 3:00p, followed by a round of Irish coffees, his favorite, at the Irish Cultural Museum in the French Quarter.
