Broussard-After a long battle with Glioblastoma, Joray Donald "JD" Jensen passed peacefully at his home on July 14th, 2023. During his final moments on this earth, JD was surrounded by his faithful, loving wife, Amanda, his son, JJ, and his mother-in-law, who had been by his side through every moment of his battle.
In his final moments, we expressed our unconditional and everlasting love for him. As I held his hand, I assured JD that God would protect his family and it was okay for him to let go. As he took his final breath, I felt a sense of peace, knowing that he was no longer in pain. I am forever grateful for the life we shared and that I was able to remain by his side during his final moments on this earth.
JD was full of life and lived his to the fullest. Being married to him was the most amazing adventure and greatest honor of my life. He was always humble and sincere, and I was in constant awe of his ability to effortlessly balance his home and work life. He always prioritized his family while having a work ethic like no other. He was loyal to his core, and it was obvious to anyone how much he cared for his loved ones. If there was a problem, JD would be there without hesitation to help in any way he could. Even after his diagnosis, he fought to keep true to that part of him as long as he could.
Being his wife was a privilege, loving him was magical, and while entirely heartbreaking, walking him down this path to his final home with our Lord was the greatest honor. We would like to thank Renee and Brook, real life angels who were his hospice care team, for taking such loving care of JD and for treating him like a person, even family, rather than as a patient. Thank you for giving us the ability to be focused on being JD's family rather than caretakers during these final difficult months.
We will now start our hardest journey and that is moving forward without our rock. My best friend, the best dad.
JD is survived by his wife Amanda LC Jensen whom he spent 16 wonderful years with, his son Joray D. Jensen II, extended family, and those he made his family throughout his beautiful life.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider reaching out to your local cancer center or hospice agency and donating time, or a contribution to the college fund we are establishing for JJ. If you choose to volunteer, know that just an hour a month or even 30 minutes can give families still fighting the time they need for a shower, and the patients an opportunity to see a new face which can make a huge difference in their lives. If you would like to contribute to JJ's trust, you can do so by sending your contributions via PayPal to @AmandaLC428 with a note indicating that the money is for JJ, and it will be deposited accordingly.
A celebration of life will be held on August 12th, 2023 in Lafayette, LA. Please contact his wife for more details at 864-354-8882
