Jose Luis Cantu Sr.

Realitos, Texas Cantu Jose Luis Cantu Sr., also known as "Perrin" 68 years of age, was called home on Wednesday July 23, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Realitos, Texas on October 31, 1956, to his parents Adan and Carolina Cantu. Jose attended Realitos Elementary and Benavides schools and started his career working in the Realitos Dairy Farms, oilfield, school janitor for Realitos and Benavides and retired as a landscaper for Wyatt Ranchers. Jose enjoyed family gatherings and barbequing, hunting, fishing, and the outdoors tending to his farm animals. He also enjoyed Tejano music, boxing, classic movies, and reading his bible. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be sadly missed by everyone. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carmela G. Cantu; parents, Adan Cantu Sr. and Carolina Flores Cantu; sister, Norma Villarreal; niece, Lisa Ann Cantu Guerra. Jose is survived by his son, Jose Luis (Bonnie Solis) Cantu Jr. of Realitos, Texas; two daughters, Thelma Cantu of San Diego, Texas and Angelita Cantu of Realitos, Texas; four brothers, Adan (Diana) Cantu Jr. of Realitos, Texas, Victor (+Rosana) Cantu Sr. of Realitos, Texas, Gilbert (+Eva Longoria) Cantu of Realitos, Texas, Mario (Belinda) Cantu Sr. of Realitos, Texas; four sisters, Armandina C. ( Jose L.) Ramirez of Hebbronville, Texas, Graciela Cantu of Falfurrias, Texas, Lupita (Mario Gomez) Cantu of Hebbronville, Texas, Marisa (+Humberto) Hinojosa of Benavides, Texas; eight grandchildren, Kathleen Perez, Rebecca Garza, Antonio Jose Flores, Illeana Flores, Megan Flores, Christian J. Flores, Lenissa J. Cantu, Jose Luis Cantu III. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2025 at Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Realitos, Texas. Interment will follow at Realitos Cemetery in Realitos, Texas.
