Jose "Tony" Carrasquillo

Jose "Tony" Carrasquillo, a devoted father, cherished grandfather. Tony who was 74 years old passed away peacefully on the night of October 26, 2025, with his family by his side. Born in Caguas, Puerto Rico, Tony's journey from his island roots to New Jersey exemplified his enduring work ethic, warm heart, and passion for life to the fullest.
For more than three decades, Tony proudly owned and operated Highway Body Shop in Somerville and Manville New Jersey. His craftsmanship, integrity, and unwavering commitment to excellence earned him the respect and trust of countless customers, neighbors, and friends throughout the community. Whether restoring a classic car, offering honest advice, or simply sharing a smile, Tony brought genuine care and pride into all he did.
Tony's greatest love, was his family. He is survived by his loving partner, Janice Roman, and his four devoted children: Joseph Carrasquillo, Brenda Vohs husband John, Jillian Reid husband Chris, Ida Arcila and husband Victor.
He was also a proud and loving grandfather to nine grandchildren - Alisha, Elijah, Vanessa, Andreina, Valentina, Andrew, Victoria, Lorenzo and Victor - each of whom brought him tremendous joy. With Special Family members Jason Roman and Melaine White.
Tony is pre- deceased by his parents and 3 siblings. Leaving behind loving brothers and sisters who he loved dearly.
Tony's love for restoring classic vehicles was more than a hobby-it was his way of honoring history, breathing new life into the past, and celebrating the beauty of craftsmanship. Through this passion Tony took a lot of pride in his daily work ethic, perseverance, attention to detail, and how to approach the world with both strength and kindness.
Tony enjoyed spending long walks and nature with Jancie. He loved taking trips with his family, watching the sunrise and especially sitting in the back yard on Sundays feeding the birds, any wildlife that would approach him while he ate his Texas winners' hotdogs.
He will be deeply missed by his family, his many friends, and all who were touched by his generosity, his laughter, and his unshakable spirit. Though Tony is gone from our sight, his legacy lives on: in the curves of a polished chrome fender restored by his hands, in the memories of a friendly conversation in his shop, and most importantly, in the hearts of the loved ones he leaves behind.
