Jose C. Carrion, 73, of San Antonio, TX passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 22, 2023, in San Antonio, TX.
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Dellcrest Funeral Home Chapel 2023 W.W. White Rd, San Antonio, TX, with the rosary starting at 6:00 PM. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church 618 S. Grimes St. San Antonio, TX. Interment with military honors will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd. San Antonio TX.
Jose was born on December 10, 1949, in San Antonio, TX to the late Pio N Carrion and Juanita Casillas Carrion. He was drafted into the U.S. Army after High School graduation and served with Distinction in the Vietnam War. During his service he was awarded a Purple Heart after receiving wounds in battle. Jose was awarded 3 Bronze Stars, The Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm and numerous other citations and awards. He returned home to heal and was honorably discharged. Once healed he re-enlisted and served 4 years including a tour in Korea. After his service he went to work for AAFES working in shipping and receiving and retired after 21 years. Jose enjoyed spending time with family and friends, dancing and listening to music. He was a Catholic and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. The family wishes to thank best friend and care giver Dale Carona and dear friend, Christina Rodriguez for their love and support.
Jose is survived by his siblings, Rosalie Trevino, Gilbert Carrion and wife Gloria, Bernie Carrion Sr, Irma Huerta and husband Johnny, Julie Guitierrez and husband Richard, Johnny Carrion, Marcus Guajardo, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
Jose was also preceded in death by his siblings, Anna Perales, Pete Carrion, Jesse Carrion;
