Jose Ramon Hernandez, also known as Keke, Cheo, Joe a proud and faithful man from the island of Puerto Rico born to Lydia Gonzalez. He carried his heritage with a bold strength that spoke louder than words. On the baseball field, he was a 1st baseman and shortstop who moved with precision and purpose, and in life, he was the same, intentional and always at the helm. He had a tough exterior but so sensitive and tender with those he loved. Shirley Esther Hernandez Hazel, his wife of forty-seven years, was the absolute love of his life, she was his EVERYTHING.
Jose was a jack of many trades, a chef, a property manager, a service specialist of Cadillac vehicles, and an entrepreneur. In every profession he led with organization, structure, discipline and always delivered with excellence.
Jose was a lover of all music and a dancer, with a special love for salsa and merengue representing his Puerto Rican roots.
Jose's beloved wife Shirley passed on August 8, 2023. He is survived by his sons, Jose Hernandez Jr, and Anthony Hernandez; daughter-in-law, Jaime Hernandez; daughter, Shirlene Arroyo and son-in-law, David Arroyo; daughter, Victoria Canales and son-in-law, Miguel Canales; and his daughter, Biguita Hernandez-Smith and son-in-law, Jason Smith; brothers, Pedro Gonzalez and Tony Lopez; grandchildren, Jordan Silva, Elisa Hernandez, Tristen Silva, Anthony Hernandez Jr, Leanna Canales, Julian Javois, Elias Hernandez, Gabriel Silva, Jesenia Hernandez, Yasmin Hernandez, and Destiny Canales; and six great-grandchildren.
His passion and zest for life will be etched in the hearts of all who encountered him.
La vida no se mide por las veces que respiras, sino por los momentos que te dejan sin aliento. Saludos y bendiciones
Rest in peace, Papi
