Joseph R. Carr passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 18th. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Francis J. Carr and Marie Roche Carr. At the time of his passing he and his wife, the former Dolores Becker, were happily married for 68 years. Joseph was a graduate of St. Paul's High School and the University of Scranton, where he was a member of the swim team. Joseph was a veteran of the US Army. He was employed in the insurance industry his entire life and was past president of The Claims Association.

Joseph is survived by his wife Dolores, children Kathleen Carr, Carol (Joe) Giumento, and daughter-in-law Patricia Carr as well as his grandchildren Erin and Kyle Giumento, Colleen Carr, and Delia (Matt) Krott. He was preceded in death by his son and best friend Richard Carr, brothers Frank and twin Robert, Aunt Mary Carr, and Uncle Brother Kevin Carr.

Joseph enjoyed going on cruises with Dolores, playing golf with Richard and grandson Kyle, and attending Penn State games with Carol. Joseph thoroughly enjoyed attending his grandchildren's events and games and loved spending time with them, especially their annual picnics.

The family would like to express their appreciation to VA Hospice for their excellent care.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday at 9:30am at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church 322 Chestnut St Dunmore. Interment St. Catherine's Cemetery Moscow. Friends may call Monday 5pm to 7:00pm at Albert P O'Donnell Funeral Home 2025 Green Ridge St. Dunmore.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center, Center for Development and Civic Engagement, 1111 East End Boulevard Wilkes-Barre, PA 1871.
