Joseph Cavedon Jr. Obituary
Joseph T. Cavedon Jr., 77, of North Smithfield, died November 6, 2025 in Stillwater Skilled Nursing, Smithfield. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Joseph Sr. and Bertha (Calderwood) Cavedon.
Joseph was a man of quiet strength, deep devotion and unwavering love for his family. He dedicated his life to his three daughters, always putting them first and guiding them with his wisdom, humor and gentle heart. A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, he honorably served his country during the Vietnam War and carried that same sense of loyalty and discipline throughout his life. He worked many years as a transport driver hauling propane, a job he took great pride in and one that reflected on his commitment to hard work and reliability. Beyond his family and career, he found joy in fellowship as a member of Cercle Laurier, Italian Working Men's Club, Sayles Hill Rod and Gun Club, St. Joseph Veterans Association, and the Elks Lodge. To those who knew him he was more than a father or a friend, he was a steady presence, a man of integrity and someone whose kindness and humor will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his three daughters, Jessica Hancock of Mapleville, Amy Cavedon of Lincoln, and Bethany Cavedon, of Smithfield; his brother, Chris Cavedon of Brevard, NC; and six grandchildren, Grace and Benjamin Hancock, Brian and Sienna Auclair, Alexia Berard and Cameron Ferriere. He was predeceased by his brother Richard Cavedon.
His funeral will be held Thursday, November 13, 2025, starting with a visitation from 5-7PM followed by a service at 7PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main Street, Woonsocket. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to DAV - Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301 Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
