M. Lucia Cavedon

M. Lucia (Denault) Cavedon, aged 96, peacefully passed away on January 18, 2024, at The Village at Waterman Lake in Greenville. Born in Woonsocket to the late Alfred and Louisa (Depointe) Denault, Lucia was a distinguished graduate of Hill College.
A true Renaissance woman, Lucia's indomitable spirit shone brightly. Not only was she the owner of Lucia's, a high-end ladies' clothing boutique in Woonsocket, but she also played a pivotal role in her former husband's company, Cavedon Chemicals. Renowned for her unwavering dedication, Lucia emerged as a community leader, dedicating numerous years to volunteering at the YWCA. Furthermore, she served as the esteemed chairwoman of The American Heart Association Annual Fashion Show.
Lucia's competitive nature found expression in her love for games like dominoes and pitch, and culminated in winning the championship of the mother-son Rally Point Tennis tournament one year. Her unwavering faith was a cornerstone of her life, and for 30 years, she was a devoted communicant of St. Joan of Arc Church in Cumberland, where her volunteerism knew no bounds. At the remarkable age of 91, when her car broke down, she walked a mile to church, ensuring she didn't miss Mass.
A loving and devoted grandmother to her cherished granddaughter, Bella, Lucia embodied selflessness, always extending a helping hand to those in need. As an accomplished artist with a passion for painting, she leaves behind a legacy of creativity and generosity.
Lucia is survived by her son, Christopher Cavedon, and his significant other, Laura Stanzione of North Smithfield; stepson, Joseph Cavedon, Jr. of Greenville; brothers Jean Denault of Smithfield and Thomas Denault of Woonsocket; sisters Louisa Morris of Merrimack, NH, and Beatrice Viens of Woonsocket; granddaughter Bella Rose Prue, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Bouchard, her stepson Richard Cavedon, and two brothers, Patrick and Manuel Denault.
Her funeral will be held Friday, January 26, 2024 at 8:45 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Joan of Arc Church, 3357 Mendon Rd., Cumberland. Calling hours are Thursday from 5-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
