George Cavedon Obituary

George Robert "Bob" Cavedon Sr., age 87, died Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Aiken Regional Medical Center following an illness. Bob, as he was affectionately known as, was born July 19, 1935, in Providence, RI to the late Alfred William Cavedon Sr. and the late Gladys Koon Cavedon. Bob graduated from The Canterbury School in Connecticut and spent two years at Boston University before graduating from Philadelphia College of Textile and Sciences, now known as Philadelphia University, with a BA in Engineering. After College, he went to work for the family business, Aldon Spinning Mills in Vernon, CT. He worked in various positions with the company, later he and his brother inherited the business and operated it for many years. Bob was a very skilled and passionate golfer. He loved to go hunting with his dogs and shoot sporting clays and skeet. He was a resident of Connecticut and Savannah, GA prior to making The Reserve at Woodside his home in Aiken ten years ago. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Cavedon; and a brother, Alfred William Cavedon Jr. Survivors include his wife, Janet Waring Cavedon; a daughter, Cathy Cavedon Casali (Jack); three sons, George Cavedon Jr. (Gail), William Cavedon (Pam), and Christopher Cavedon (Linda Garcia); six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Memorial contributions in his memory may be directed to the charity of one's choice.
