Joseph J. Coco

Joseph J. Coco, 96, a cherished resident of Methuen, MA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Exeter Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorice (Shorten) Coco.
Born in Lawrence, MA, Joseph was the son of the late Horace and Antoinette (Romeo) Coco. He graduated from Lawrence High School and, following his graduation, enlisted in the United States Navy, where he proudly served his country with honor and distinction. Upon his return, he attended Bridgton Academy in Maine and subsequently earned a bachelor's degree from Boston College.
In 1951, Joseph and Dorice were united in marriage, and shortly thereafter, they moved to Methuen to begin their family. He had an esteemed career as an insurance agent for years with Prudential Insurance and then his own business – The Coco Insurance Agency. Joseph was known for his outgoing and social nature, and he took great pride in maintaining his home and property. He was deeply involved in his neighborhood. He had boundless energy, and he found joy in watching football, painting, cooking, and going out to eat.
Joseph's life was marked by his dedication to his family. He was a man of integrity, compassion, and unwavering support for those around him. His legacy is one of love, generosity and caring.
In addition to his beloved wife Dorice, Joseph was predeceased by his siblings, Mary Trovato and Horace Coco.
He is survived by his children, Joyce Coco and her husband Kevin Boyle, Daniel Coco, Sr. and his wife Pamela, Robert Coco and his wife Anita, Janis Coco and her partner Scott Jablonski; his grandchildren, Daniel J. Coco, Jr., Rachel Schopbach, and Hannah Hubbell; and his great-grandchildren, Jack, Ryan, A.J., Sophia, Colton, Stephen, and Preston.
Joseph's life was a testament to love, dedication, and hard work. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
