Joseph P. Connolly, 82, of Locust Avenue, Amsterdam, NY; passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam, NY.
Born in Amsterdam on May 5, 1943, he was a son of the late Edward P. and Iva A. Golden Connolly.
Joe received his education and graduated from St. Mary’s Institute in Amsterdam, Class of 1960.
He worked on the Turbine Assembly Line at General Electric Company for 37 years.
Joe was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corp, serving his country from 1960 to 1964 and subsequently 2 years with the active reserves.
Joe was a Parishioner and communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Amsterdam and belonged to St. Mary’s Holy Name Society. He was a Life Member of the Marine Corp League 2nd Marine Division Association and the N.R.A. Joe was also a member of American Legion John J. Wyszomirski Post 701 in Amsterdam and VFW Post 8690 in Broadalbin, NY.
Joe is survived by his wife, Sylvia Messineo, whom he married on September 22, 1973, one daughter, Marianne E. Kruger (Matt) of Fultonville, NY; two sons, Thomas P. Connolly (Marie) of Lakeland, FL; and James E. Connolly (Doreen) of Williamsville, NY; daughter-in-law, Christine Connolly; his grandchildren, Kesley, Katherine, and Victoria Connolly and Catherine and Timothy Kruger. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Joe was predeceased by a son, Timothy J. Connolly and a brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Marie Connolly and nephew, Michael P. Connolly
Relatives and Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated on Monday, November 17, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010, with The Very Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis E.V. officiating.
Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.
There are no calling hours.
