Joseph A. "Tony" Ensenberger, 71, of Macomb, Illinois; passed away on Friday December 22, 2023 at his residence.
He was born April 27, 1952 in Bloomington, Illinois to Joseph P. and Bonita (Jordan) Ensenberger; he married Peggy Domovich on Sept. 1, 1973. She survives.
Also surviving are his parents, Joseph and Bonita Ensenberger of Albuquerque, New Mexico; his sons, Matthew (Victoria) Ensenberger of Cary, Illinois, Marty (Deena) Ensenberger of Middleton, Wisconsin; 4 grandchildren, Harriet, Charles, Abby, Izzy Ensenberger; brothers, Chris (Elaine) Ensenberger of Whitesboro, Texas, Pete (Kim) Ensenberger of Tempe, Arizona; a sister, Sarah Ensenberger of Mesa, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Julie Ensenberger.
He was a graduate of Central Catholic high school in Bloomington and DePaul University. Tony worked at his family's furniture business in Bloomington before becoming an agent for State Farm Insurance; he was an agent for 36 years until his retirement. This career move also brought him to Macomb in 1984, a community which he resided in and lovingly supported for 40 years. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and served as a Deacon beginning in 2007. He also served on the Everly House Board of Directors.
Tony was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing throughout his life. He was incredibly creative and had an artistic talent which he also fostered during his time in college. Among his artistic interests was photography, which was shared by many in his family. Tony also shared and supported a passion for photography with his children and grandchildren. He loved working in his garden and birdwatching including the flock that would visit his many feeders and birdbaths. He was a kind man who always had time to lend, an ear to bend, and wisdom and guidance to share. He has impacted the lives of many and will be missed.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM Saturday Dec. 30, 2023 at St. Paul Church, where visitation will be Friday Dec. 29, from 5:00-7:00 PM with a wake service at 7:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Paul Church, St. Paul School, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Peggy and family, my heart aches for all of you. Over the years, I have thought of the times we were all together on Aberdeen Street. I remember Tony first coming into the family, and all the visits I made to stay with the both of you in Bloomington. These memories I will always cherish. God Bless all of you, Audrey (Mleczko) Mohr
