Mr. Joseph Wellington Frederick, Sr., 90, of Blythewood, passed away on March 18, 2025. Joe was born on December 3, 1934, in Akron, Ohio.
Joe went to high school in Harrisburg, Illinois and graduated in 1953. Upon graduation, he accepted a football scholarship and lettered at the University of South Carolina, where he earned a degree in mechanical engineering. Joe worked at Westinghouse in sales and marketing, representing several divisions including the ground floor of the Integrated Circuit market.
Joe was predeceased by his only brother, Dr. Richard Frederick (wife, Sally), the mother of his children, Sara Hambright Frederick, his parents and grandparents. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Susan Mixon Frederick; daughter Sherry Parrish (Jeff); sons Joe Frederick, Jr. (Pam) and Richard Frederick; Kathy Morrison; William Edward (Billy) Mosley (Jennifer) and Steven Keys. He is also survived by his grandchildren Sara Parrish, Chase Irons (Ben), Jeffrey Parrish (Camlin), Jake Morrison (Fiancé -Jessica), Emily Keys (Fiancé-Todd), Autumn Keys, Hayden Mosley and Zachary McMillan (Hannah). Also, he is survived by five great grandchildren; Jackson, Annie and Carter Irons, Ansel Parrish, and Dulaney McMillan.
The family would like to thank Chelsea with Prisma Health Hospice for her compassion and care.
The service for Mr. Frederick will be held at 11 o'clock, Saturday, March 22nd, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 90 Boney Road, Blythewood. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service beginning at 10 o'clock. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 90 Boney Road, Blythewood, South Carolina 29016.
