Joseph Peter Fuchs, 79, of Rib Lake, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau.
Joe was born on March 27, 1946 in Rib Lake to Frank and Mary (Quednow) Fuchs. He graduated from Rib Lake High School in 1964 and served honorably in the U.S. Army from Sept. 14, 1965 until September 13, 1967, and was a member of the American Legion Harley-Davidson Post #400.
In 1968, he married Judith DeBona. They resided in Milwaukee where Joe worked for Harley-Davidson. Together Joe and Judith had four children, Peter, Tracy, Catherine and Paul. They divorced in 1981.
Joe retired early from Harley-Davidson and moved back to the Rib Lake area. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, taking long walks outside smoking his Luckies, and most of all, spending time with his grandkids.
He will be dearly missed by his children, Tracy (Joe) Frombach of Ogema, Peter of Wausau, Catherine (Kevin) Petersen of Bloomingdale, IL; brothers, John (Chris) of West Allis, Raymond (Sheila) of Stetsonville, William of Rib Lake; grandchildren, Whitney Frombach, Joseph (Carli) Frombach, Peter, Nicole and Danielle Fuchs; and his great-grandson, Stanley Frombach. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Paul; brothers, Peter (Rita), Edward and Robert.
A funeral mass will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib Lake with Fr. Julian Druffner officiating. Interment will follow at Lake View Cemetery, Rib Lake. Military honors will be provided by the Rib Lake Lehman-Clendenning American Legion Post #274.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m., Saturday at the church.
If you're considering a memorial besides flowers, consider donating to the "At Your Feet Foundation," a foundation started by Joe's children in 2014, that helps local charities. Contributions may be sent to At Your Feet Foundation, 142627 County Road L, Merrill, WI 54452.
