Joseph J. Guarasci

Four months before his 99th Birthday and four years to the day he lost his son, Joseph J. Guarasci (aka Joe the boss) passed away in his sleep at the Joe Raso Hospice House in New City.
A Legend and man of many talents, Joseph, a resident of Pearl River for over 65 years and a WWII veteran began his career working for ISO -a company who before computers were statisticians providing advisory information for insurance company usage. Eventually located in the World Trade Center, Joseph was thrilled to be working in the world's tallest towers.
Always an entrepreneur and having his hand in hospitality, such as the first Blimpie's in NYC to clothing fashion outlets and overnight Bahama Casino Junket tours. When he was 53 years old Joseph decided to dabble in the fine dining restaurant business and purchased the Boulderberg Manor in Tomkins Cove NY. For 13 years along with his family, he operated this historic landmark that catered to celebrities and was noted as one of the areas finest dining establishments.
Joseph is predeceased by his wife Louise (whom he was married to for 70 years) and his son Joseph and is survived by his 3 children; James, Tina, and Michael and the loves of his life his two grandchildren Louisa and Joseph. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and many special friends.
Calling hours will be at the Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home, 34 N. Summit St Pearl River on Wed May 10 from 3:00 PM to - 7:00 PM.
Joseph's Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday May 11 at St. Anthony's Shrine Church 36 West Nyack Road Nanuet at 10 AM.
In lieu of flowers the family would request donations in his name to the Joseph Raso Hospice House, 415 Buena Vista Rd in New City NY 10956 or the Rockland County Veterans Association, 20 Squadron Blvd, New City NY, 10956.
