Beloved husband of Gwendolyn J. "Joy" Henczel (nee Stuedemann), whom he married April 5, 1986, former spouse of the late Virginia Henczel (nee Widlak), loving father of Cathie (Michael) Young of Stafford, VA, Caryl Dixon of Stafford, VA and John (Patricia) Henczel of Minooka, IL, adored grandfather of Jeffery, Allen and Matthew (Sara); Amy "Chelsea"; Josh, Felicia and Dakota; Helen, great-grandfather of JJ and Preston; Julie, Oliver and Scarlett; Noah, devoted son of the late Joseph and Blanche (nee Smith) Henczel, dear brother of the late Charles "Chuck" (the late Sophie "Dolly") Henczel, nephew of Mary (the late Ronald) Henczel, fond uncle of David (Denise Padilla) Henczel and Phillip Henczel, great-uncle, great-great uncle, and friend of many.
Joe grew up in Naperville, attended SS. Peter & Paul Grade School and was a graduate of Naperville Community High School. He was employed as a machine operator with General Mills in West Chicago, IL for over thirty years.
Joe was a current member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Winfield, a former member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Naperville and belonged to the Knights of Columbus. Joe enjoyed gardening and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 9, 2023, 9:00-10:30 AM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL.
Services will begin Tuesday, 10:30 AM from the funeral home and will proceed to an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville.
Interment will follow at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Naperville.
