While students at SS. Simon & Jude Catholic School and during recess on the front parking lot facing Hazelwood Ave.,it was the boys against the girls in a game of hand ball. Each batter held the ball in one hand, hit the ball with their fist, and then run like crazy for 1st base. Joe was at bat and I was in the infield. And, boy, did he hit that ball!!

And it landed right on my face!

I was more embarrassed than hurt. And he was more afraid that he really hurt me. Consequently, he spent the rest of the day apologizing to me.

Joseph A. Hillerich, may your Rest in God's Peace!

Sincerely,

Jo Ann Weckman
