Joseph Dureste Janvier

Joseph Dureste Janvier, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on August 29, 2025, in Hyde Park, Boston, MA, at the age of 86. Born on July 4, 1939, in Cayes, Haiti, he was the devoted son of the late Philistin Janvier and Lila Delinois.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Lucie Janvier (Charles), and their seven children: Schiller Janvier and his wife Yvenie of Quincy; Liliane Janvier and her husband Maurice of Dedham; Jean Donerst Janvier (deceased) and his wife Marie Franchette; Emmanuelle Janvier and her husband Jean Yvel of Stoughton; Ephata Janvier of Stoughton; Jacques Henry Janvier and his wife Evena of Delaware; and Natacha Janvier and her husband John Webb Remy of Holbrook. He is also survived by Marie Paule of Haiti, as well as several grandchildren: Deborah, Kirby, Samantha, Kernide, Beyoncé, Hayden, Tayjaah, Sarah, Nasthajha, Ishmael, Athaliah, Sophonie, Abigail, and Samuel.

Joseph Dureste was a man of simple taste and profound passions. He was one of the finest auto body technicians in Haiti, and after moving to the United States in 1999, he continued to practice his craft with the same dedication and skill. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him. His legacy will continue to inspire, and his memory will remain a source of joy for those fortunate enough to have known him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 69 South Franklin St. (Rt. 37), Holbrook. Funeral services will begin immediately following the visiting hours at 10:00 AM in the funeral home. Burial will be held at St. Mary Cemetery in Randolph, MA.
