Francis J. Duggan Sr. passed away after a long illness on June 25, 2025 age 85 at his home in Duxbury, MA.
He is survived by his wife, Winifred (Clinton) Duggan married for 60 years, his children Brenda Duggan (partner Jimmy Murad Jr) of Duxbury, Frank Duggan Jr and his wife Kristen of Pembroke and Stephen Duggan and his wife Maryangela of Hanover. Proud Papa to Adam Schwartz and his wife Meghan of Pembroke, Stephen Duggan and his wife Catherine of W. Bridgewater, Amanda Duggan of Weymouth, Madelyn and Lily Tobin of Hanover, and Ryan and Megan Shaughnessy. He is also survived by 3 great grandchildren, Madison Schwartz, Noah and Hannah Duggan.
Son of the late Mary (Rossetti) and Lawrence Duggan of Holbrook. Frank is survived by his brothers Lawrence Duggan II and wife Patricia of Fort Meyers, FL and James Duggan and wife Peggy of Rockland MA. He was the brother of the late Margaret Burnham of Kingston and Rose Duggan of Holbrook and leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.
Frank was born in Plymouth, MA, and was raised in Holbrook attending Holbrook Schools and graduated from Archbishop Williams High School class of 1958, Mass Trade School earning his license as an oil burner technician and heating specialist. He serviced customers in Holbrook and surrounding towns for many years and helped his sons build Duggan Oil Co., Inc. of Holbrook.
Joining the US Navy in 1962 and serving aboard the USS Enterprise Aircraft Carrier during the Cuban Blockade/Missile Crisis. Frank was a proud member of the Holbrook Fire Dept for 28 years where he was appointed Lieutenant and acting Fire Chief. While on the Fire Dept. he attended Massasoit Community College graduating with a degree in Fire Science. In 1993 he was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Holbrook Co-Operative Bank and served for many years. He also served on the Board of the Union Cemetery. A member of St. Joseph's Church and Fr Bransfield Council of the Knights of Columbus as well as a member of the American Legion.
Captain Frank chartered his fishing boat, the "Brenda Marie" out of Green Harbor, Marshfield then retired to Orleans, Cape Cod where he enjoyed fishing with his children, grandchildren and friends. In 2005 he and his wife built a new home in Duxbury to be closer to family and friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, July 1st, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 69 So. Franklin St. (RT. 37), Holbrook. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 2nd, at 11 AM in St. Joseph Church, 153 So. Franklin St., Holbrook. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Holbrook.
