Joseph J. Jezyk

Joseph J. Jezyk, age 71, of Hockessin, DE, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023, following a tragic biking accident two days prior.
He was born in Wilmington, son of the late Stanley R. and Helen (Durka) Jezyk. Joe was a 1970 graduate of Salesianum and a 1974 graduate of the University of Delaware. He went on to enjoy a long and successful career in the high-end home audio and video industry, beginning with Sound Studio and concluding with Overture. Music was Joe's life!
"Jumpin Joe" was an accomplished wine maker and member of the Wilmington Wine Guild. He was a passionate cyclist, routinely riding throughout Delaware especially since his retirement in 2022. Joe meticulously cared for his lawn and cars. He also enjoyed photography, travel and cooking for his family and friends. He volunteered and coached with the Special Olympics, a cause that was near and dear to his heart. Above all, Joe was a friend to everyone he met, always having a smile, a hug, and a joke to brighten your day.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Debbie Starobynski-Jezyk; his siblings, Judy Gallagher (Tom), Dave Jezyk (Jan), and Liz Jezyk-McElwee (Pat); his mother-in-law, Catherine E. Starobynski, and the late Thomas J Starobynski; the Starobynski/Moseley/Dorso families, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, members of his extended family and close friends. Joe will be remembered as a true "Salesian Gentleman". Gone too soon, he will be dearly missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Church, 10 Old Church Road, Wilmington, DE 19807, where family and friends can visit beginning at 9:00. Interment will be private.
