Joseph Louis "Joey" Johnson Jr.

Joseph "Joey" Louis Johnson, Jr., 25, of East Hartford sadly departed this life on Friday, February 24, 2023. Joey was born in Hartford, CT to Joseph L. Johnson, Sr. and Natoshia (Betsey) Daniel on July 12, 1997.
Joey was known by many different nicknames by those who loved him such as "Joey Boey", Mu-Mu, and "Dew", and "GI" to name a few. Joey's academic history was unmatched he excelled through high school with high honors. He attended The University of Connecticut and graduated class of 2020 with a degree in Psychology. Joey worked at Prism Autism Education, and it was a job he loved dearly. He consistently received complements for his authentic work ethic and his coworkers enjoyed working with him.
He was known to be someone who humble and beacon of hope to many. He liked being busy always out and about wearing the latest trends with iconic sneakers to match. When he wasn't working, Joey enjoyed his life, he was an avid traveler and cruiser. He loved sports, played baseball and enjoyed watching basketball. Video games were a past time of his, in which he was a savant.
Joey will be missed dearly and never forgotten. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving parents, Natoshia Daniel; stepfather, Thomas Daniel; Joseph L. Johnson, Sr.; younger brothers, Jaden Smith, Tyquan Johnson and Jawuan Johnson and sister, Kaydeen Henderson. A host of cousins, aunts and other relatives and friends and very best friends, Jonmikal Riley and Deja Alexander.
Joey was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Charlie Moore and Priscilla Johnson; maternal great grandparents, Willie Betsey, Jr. and Doris June Betsey; great uncle, Paul Betsey; aunt, Karen Johnson; great aunt, Doreen Hutchins and uncle, Lamar Betsey.
Everyone who knows Joey knows that he was truly a humble young man, a true testament to character and a beacon of hope for those who needed it.
