Joseph LaRusso, 88, of Hurley, NY, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Health Alliance Hospital in Kingston, NY. He was born on November 21, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY and was the son of the late Jack LaRusso and Caroline Seykora.
Joseph served in the National Guard and was a member of the 552 Airforce Band.
Joseph was a talented musician and loved teaching music for the Kingston City School District for over 38 years. As a professional musician he played with The Papa Bear Band and The Tudor Brass Players. He also was a car buff and gifted mechanic. He loved fixing antique cars.
He is survived by his wife Marian LaRusso, his son Dan (Alice) LaRusso, daughters Annie (Charlie) Wright, Katie Roman. His grandchildren Rachel (Glenn), Adam (Kat), Tristan, Katrina and Niko. His great grandchildren Aaliyah and Thomas. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Buck (Caroline) Heller and nephew Joshua (Irene) Heller and niece Tova (Michael) Ferraiuolo.
In addition to his parents, Joseph is preceded in death by his brother Rudy LaRusso and sister Gloria Thorpe.
Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 2pm to 5pm. For those who wish, contributions in Joseph's memory may be made to the Ulster County SPCA. A tribute for Joseph can be found at www.KeyserFuneralService.com, where you may leave memories and expressions of sympathy for his family.
