Joseph Lukasik, 88, of Lombard, Illinois, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2024. Born on July 25, 1936, to Paul and Sophie Lukasik, Joe was known for his kind heart, joyful spirit, and lifelong dedication to family, work, and community.

For nearly 30 years, Joe worked with United Airlines, where he formed lifelong friendships and shared his love for travel. His passion for exploring the world took him to many places, but it was a trip to Japan that remained one of his proudest memories. During that visit, Joe discovered that his brother Henry's name had been mistakenly left off a World War II memorial. Joe's determination and perseverance led to the correction of this oversight, and he returned to Japan to witness Henry's name rightfully placed on the memorial, an experience that deeply moved him.

Outside of his career, Joe's love for baseball and community shone through his role as a Lombard youth baseball manager, where he shared his enthusiasm for the game with countless young athletes. His other great passion was collecting sports cards, a hobby that led him to open his own sports card shop in Lombard, where he enjoyed sharing stories and rare finds with customers and friends alike.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary (nee Murray); his three sons, Michael (Susan), David (Shelly), and Steven (the late John Feilen); and his cherished grandchildren, Joseph, Michael, Katie, Matthew, Chloe, Sophie, and Tessa. He is also survived by his sister Barbara, and many nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Sophie, and eight of his siblings: Josephine, Teri, Helen, Dolores, Marianne, Pauline, Henry, and Eugene.

Joe will be remembered for his happy personality, his love of travel, and his commitment to his family and community. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
