He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Donna (White), sons Michael (Leann) and Mark (Erika) and daughter Susan (Ron), brothers James (Paula), Jerry (Janet) and sister Maria (Tom) Gray, grandchildren Joe Malick, Brooke and Blake Malick and Savannah, Gavin and Charlotte Spivey, step grandchildren Zachary (Rosey), Megan and Nick (Emily) Judge. 5 step great grandchildren, John, Lucas, Bailey, Deacon and Isabella and nephews Christopher (Jennifer) and Gary (Autumn) Malick.
He taught at and was an administrator at the Middle school in the Sheffield-Sheffield Lake school district for 35 years until retirement in 2003. He twice won Teacher of the Year honors. He was named a Martha Holden Jennings Scholar. He coached boys' basketball for 20 years and later started the girls' basketball program at the school. He coached and managed Lorain Youth Baseball teams and coached girls' softball.
His interests included traveling with Donna, when they were in good health, current events, music, humor and his precious grandchildren. He was a lifelong Cleveland sports fan. He left this world with a spirit of pride, knowing that his children are successful in their professions and as parents.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph T. Sr. and Helen (Zoldak) Malick and his brother John.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Mercy Hospital and Hospice for the care that Joe received. In lieu of flowers we suggest a donation in his name to The Special Olympics.

I also lived at the Newman Club at BGSU, and that's where I met Joe. He had a great sense of humor and could always make people laugh. He always had a smile on his face. Will be missed by many. My condolences to the family. Gary Thompson, Class of 1969.

I have fond memories of Joe and his always present sense of humor.
It has been many years, but I remember living across the hall at the Newman Club. Rol Elikofer
