Jay married his wife of 65 years, Carmela Felice Cerretto on November 12, 1960, at Saint Anthony's church in Belleville, New Jersey. He was the proud parent of Joseph Frank Meglio Jr., Dominic Salvatore Meglio, Maria Meglio Adams, and Anthony John Meglio Sr.
Jay was employed on June 27, 1957 as an instrument tool maker precision, by Western Electric in South Kearny, New Jersey which changed to AT&T Bell Labs, then to Lucent Technologies and eventually to Nokia. He retired after 44 years, in 2001
Jay was a Boy Scout leader, Treasurer and Committee Member for Troop #301 in Belleville for approximately 30 years. He was a 44 year member of the Elks Lodge in Lodges #1123 in Belleville and #2237 in Cedar Grove.
Jay is a graduate of Bloomfield College receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1978.
He is survived by his wife Carmela Felice Cerreto Meglio of Clifton, by three sons; Joseph Meglio Jr. & wife Donna, Dominic Meglio, and Anthony Meglio Sr. & wife Toniann, by a daughter Maria Meglio Adams & husband David, by nine grandchildren & seven great grandchildren, by a brother John Meglio, and buy a brother-in-law Richard Roberts. He is pre-deceased by his beloved sister Sarah Roberts.
Funeral services will begin 9:15 AM Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Allwood Funeral Home, 660 Allwood Road, Clifton, NJ 07012 followed by a 10 AM Funeral Mass at St Andrew the Apostle RC Church. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington. Viewing 4-8 PM Friday at Allwood Funeral Home with an Elks Funeral Service at 7:00 PM.
