Joseph S. Mikolajczyk
July 19, 1953 – December 23, 2024
Joseph S. Mikolajczyk, 71, passed away peacefully in home hospice care in Bridgeport, PA, on Monday, December 23, 2024, after a brief but remarkably courageous and determined battle with stage 4 lung cancer. During these few months, he was supported by the kindness of friends, neighbors, and family, with special thanks to Huck Laffredo and Raymond Stingel, who went above and beyond to assist his daughter Christa when she needed it most, while maintaining his dignity, grace, and strength.
A graduate of Upper Merion High School, Joe dedicated 25 years of service to the United States Postal Service before retiring. His life was filled with simple joys and meaningful pursuits. He was an avid fisherman who found peace in nature, a collector of antiques with a love for history, and a frequent traveler to Poland, cherishing every opportunity to connect with his Polish heritage. He dedicated many years volunteering for Stony Creek Anglers' nursery and was a committed blood donor, generously supporting the American Red Cross and other charities close to his heart. Above all, his greatest joy was found in the quiet companionship of his beloved dog, Gypsy.
In the face of his illness, Joe lived on his own terms, balancing his independent nature with a deep respect for others. His strength, determination, and grace during this time were a testament to the character he carried throughout his life.
Joe was a devoted father to Christa Roeder and Sharra Hamric and a loving grandfather to Azlyn Roeder. He is also survived by his cousins, the Kolenda family and Walsh family, whose love and support meant so much during his final days. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Theresa Mikolajczyk (Charnick), his stepfather, John Walski, and his brother, David B. Mikolajczyk.
Joe's warmth, kindness, and unique spirit touched the lives of everyone who crossed his path. Though he is deeply missed, his memory and the love he shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In honor of his memory, donations may be made to Stony Creek Anglers, P.O. Box 1466, Blue Bell, PA 19422, [email protected]. Arrangements are by The Bernard S. Gutkowski Funeral Home, Swedesburg, PA 610-275-6385, Keith J. Murphy, F.D., www.gutkowskifuneralhome.com
