Mr. Joseph Monts Sr.

Mr. Joseph W. Monts, Sr. was born on February 12, 1945, in Sumter County, Georgia to the parentage of the late Mr. Joe E. Monts and the late Mrs. Bessie Lou Cottle Monts. He was a member of New Mount Mariah Baptist Church. He attended the public schools of Sumter County and was an employee of The Sumter Livestock Association for over twenty years, until retirement. Before his health declined, he loved fishing and working in his garden.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Arthur Lee Monts, Robert Lee Monts, and George Thomas Monts; and sisters Mary D. Rushin, Bertha Mae Rushin, and Betty Jean Monts.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at 201 Lakeview Cir. Americus, GA
He leaves to cherish his memory, two brothers: Charlie James Monts and Joe (Ethel) Calloway; four children: Joseph (Diane) Monts, Jr., Tonya (Jason) Wells, Sr., Eric Mitchell, and Anik Lundy; thirteen grandchildren: Joshua Monts, Jeremi Fuller, Breanca Denmark, Shaquanna Denmark, Diamond Denmark, Brittany Arbery, Jakeemi Brooks, Marion Hogan, Messiah Hogan, Jason Wells, Jr., and devoted grandchildren: Noah Hosley and Azariah Lundy of Americus, Georgia and Hodges Brooks of Arlington, Texas. A host of nieces, nephews and other family survive.
