Son of deceased parents, Kenneth L. Newsom, Sr. and Carolyn Faye Newsom of Antioch, Tennessee, Joseph was born in Nashville, Tennessee November 16, 1985, and was raised and lived in Nashville, Pulaski and Antioch Tennessee.
After graduating from High School, Joseph enlisted in the Tennessee Army National Guard. He valued his service highly and achieved the rank of Sergeant.
As part of his 19 years of service, he was deployed and engaged in combat in three tours in Iraq. This included duties as a rocketeer, combat truck driver and insurgent detainee guard at a prison camp in Southern Iraq.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Tristan Newsom; daughters, Sierra and Alison; and sons, Jeremiah "Bubba," Samuel and Daniel; granddaughter, Elizabeth; siblings, Kenneth Newsom, Jr (Nicole), Nikki Newsom (Jamie), and Eva Page (Brian); adopted brother, Tommy Mize; stepmother, Joyce Newsom; numerous step-siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Family and Friends are invited to attend the funeral service with Military Honors on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel, 5852 Nolensville Road. Nashville, TN 37211 (615) 331-1952.
