Joseph C. Ogarek

Joseph Charles Ogarek, age 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Joe was the beloved husband of the late Cecilia "Ceil" Mary (née Cahill); cherished father of Margaret "Peg" Ogarek, Joseph Ogarek, Catherine "Katie" Ogarek, and the late Mary Ogarek.
He was a loving brother to Maureen (Hugh) Cahill (née Ogarek), and a proud brother-in-law to the late Michael (Connie) Cahill, James Cahill, and Patrick Cahill. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Marie and Joseph Ogarek. Known and loved as a favorite uncle, proud great-uncle, fond cousin to many, and a loyal friend and neighbor, Joe touched the lives of all who knew him.
A lifelong Chicagoan, Joe grew up in the Gage Park neighborhood and later raised his family in Brighton Park. He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force before beginning a distinguished career with the Chicago Police Department, where he served for over 30 years.
In retirement, Joe embraced life fully-traveling, tending to his beautiful garden, cheering on the Chicago White Sox, and, above all, spending treasured time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his warm and welcoming spirit, unwavering dedication to those he loved, his hearty laugh and ability to always answer that final Jeopardy question.

Funeral, Monday, October 13, 2025, 9:00AM Prayers and Procession to begin from the funeral home to St. Daniel the Prophet Church, 5358 S. Nashville Ave., Chicago, Illinois for 10:00AM Mass.
Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, Alsip, Illinois.
