Jaroslaw Zalewski

Jaroslaw aka Jerry Zalewski, age 59, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, in Chicago. Born on September 23, 1966, in Poland, Jerry was known for his easy smile, big heart, and the way he made everyone feel welcome. He lived life with energy, humor, and a love for adventure that drew people to him wherever he went. Jerry grew up in Poland, where he developed a strong sense of pride in his heritage-something he carried with him throughout his life.
When he moved to Chicago, he found a second home. He built a life filled with love, laughter, and lasting friendships, all while staying deeply connected to his Polish roots.
Family meant everything to Jerry. He was a devoted son to his parents, Boguslawa and Piotr Zalewski, a caring brother to Pawel Zalewski, a new husband to Danuta Lawnicka, and a proud father to Oliver Zalewski and Camille Joly. His grandson, Bennett Joly, brought him endless joy. To those who loved him, Jerry was a steady source of love, support, and laughter-a man whose presence made life brighter.
Jerry had a deep love for the water and the outdoors. Whether he was out on his boat, skiing down a mountain, or simply soaking in the calm of the lake, that's where he felt most alive. He also had a soft spot for party music-he was often the first on the dance floor and the last to leave, his joy and energy filling the room.
He loved his work and took great pride in running his shop, Diesel Depot, treating his customers and employees like family. It wasn't just a business to him-it was something he built with passion, dedication, and a genuine love for helping others. He loved to travel and was always up for trying something new. No matter how far his travels took him, his heart always belonged to Poland.
Jerry will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, and the way he always put others first. He had a rare gift for making people feel seen and cared for, and he never hesitated to lend a helping hand. His family and friends will miss him deeply, but they take comfort in knowing that his warmth, laughter, and love will live on in the stories shared and the lives he touched.
