Joseph earned an Associate's Degree in Marine Biology and was the owner of Fishkill Firearms in Fishkill. He was best seen in his fire engine red 1975 Trans Am, or on the range with a gun or bow in hand. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, even in his 25 years in a wheelchair.
He is survived by his son, Joseph (Diana) of York, PA and his sister, Loretta Preira (Gil) of Carmel, NY; nephews, Joe Preira (Tanya) of Campbell Hall, NY, Mark Preira (Ashley) of Brewster, NY, Zachary Baker of Carmel and Christopher Sladic of Alpine, CA. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sister, Valerie Baker.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, April 29 from 3-7 pm at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home. Private cremation services were held earlier.
