Joseph "Joe" Pete, Jr., age 84, a resident of Wakefield and formerly of Phelps, WI, passed away at Riverview Health Services in Tomahawk, WI on Thursday March 30, 2023. Joe was born on March 27, 1939 in Phelps, WI to Joseph Sr. and Josephine Pete. He worked as a miner in White Pine, MI and as a logger for many years. Joe enjoyed deer and bird hunting in his free time with his son Conrad. He always loved being outdoors, doing nature walks, attending Pow Wow's and car rides with Amanda. He also loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and visiting family above all.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph Sr. and Josephine Pete; his son: Conrad; brothers: George, Isaac, Raymond, Lloyd, Ben, Arnold and Farrell; sisters: Rose Greenlund, Kathy Verdi, Charlene Pete and Carol Dykas.
He is survived by his wife: Virginia Pete of Wakefield, MI; daughters: Joyce (Larry) Smith of Hurley, WI and Amanda Pete of Lac du Flambeau, WI; sisters: Lorraine Cepling of Marenisco, WI, Loretta (Vern) Thomas of Crivitz, WI, Isabelle Golden of St. Germain, WI, June (Tom) Strobel of Land O'Lakes, WI, LaVerne Lakso of Eagle River, WI; grandchildren: Austin, Josephine, Blake, Pandora, Trinity, Brittney, Vanessa, and Christopher; great grandchildren: Mason, Cash, Matthew and Owen; great-great grandchildren: Conrad and Owen; other family; and many friends.
Funeral services for Joe will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday April 6, 2023 at the Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home in Eagle River, WI. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home.
