Joseph Riccobono, a cherished pillar of his community and a beacon of love and strength to his family, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, in Kingston, NY. Born on January 29, 1938, in the quaint town of Capaci, Sicily, Joseph's journey led him to a life rich in love, family, and the joy of simple pleasures.
Joseph's life was a testament to the power of hard work and dedication. For 30 years, he was the proud owner of Joe's Pizzeria in Mt. Vernon, NY, where his strong work ethic and warm hospitality became as much a staple as his beloved pizza. His commitment to his craft was only surpassed by his devotion to his family. He married the love of his life, Maria (Zecca) Riccobono, on February 9, 1964, in Mt. Vernon, NY. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, love, and the shared joy of raising their children.
The Riccobono family tree flourished with the addition of Joseph's children, Domenic (Jodi), Anthony (Desiree), Joseph (Nilgun), and Maria, who each carried forward the values instilled in them by their father. Joseph's legacy continued to grow with the birth of his cherished grandchildren, Brandon, Logan, Tristan, Sebastian, Mikaela, Joseph, and Ela, who were the apples of his eye and his greatest joy.
Joseph was predeceased by his beloved wife, Maria, his parents, Domenico and Maria (Costanza) Riccobono, and his sister Mimi. He is survived by his loving children, adored grandchildren, and his siblings Cathy, Rosaria, Rose, Grace, and Vincent, all of whom will miss him dearly.
A man of many interests, Joseph found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. Whether he was playing a spirited game of Bocce Ball, tending to his garden, fishing, or enjoying a game of Scopa and Briscola, he was always surrounded by the people he loved. His daily walks, a glass of red wine, and a slice of cheese were his moments of reflection and relaxation.
Joseph's character was the embodiment of love, thoughtfulness, and courage. He faced life's challenges with resilience and always put the needs of his family and friends first. As the well known quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson goes, "To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Joseph truly succeeded, as he left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him.
Today, we celebrate the life of Joseph Riccobono, a man who was not only the cornerstone of his family but also a cherished member of his community. His memory will be treasured, his stories retold, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have felt the warmth of his presence. Joseph Riccobono's life was a beautiful mosaic of moments shared with those he loved, and his spirit will forever be woven into the fabric of their lives
The family would like to thank everyone for their love, concern and understanding during this difficult time.
