Joseph Michael Savarino, Sr., 98, of St. Clairsville, OH, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2025 at Wheeling Hospital - WVU.

He was born on June 25, 1927, in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late Dominic and Vinceza (Diecidue) Savarino. Joseph was a World War II, U.S. Navy Reserve Veteran and a past member of St. Mary Catholic Church and St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Following his military service, Joseph began his career at Blaw-Knox and retired after over 30 years of service. In his spare time you could find Joseph on the golf course, where he shared many memories with family and friends over the years.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his loving wife of over 50 years, Lois M. (Lilley) Savarino; his brothers, Phillip and James Savarino and his sisters, Josephine Bavuso, Anna Impallari, Rose Heim and Mary Fisher.

Joseph is survived by his children, Kathy Savarino of Pittsburgh, PA and Michael Savarino of St. Clairsville; 4 granddaughters, Christina, Holly, Marthe and Dalena; six great-grandchildren, Jacson, Tyler, Hailey, Katie, Sienna and Declan and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received Monday, August 18, 2025 at Altmeyer Funeral Homes, Elm Grove Chapel 154 Kruger St., from 10 am until time of service at 11:30 am. Interment will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Bishop's Chapel.

Contributions may be made to St. John's Home for Children, an organization that held a special place to Joseph.
